Reliable. Open late. Usually not a wait. It may not be the most exciting food or ambiance, but the price is right and its a great "go to" restaurant. Breakfast all day is a bonus!!!

If you're looking for solid diner food, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, check out The Other Place (no, no. This place. The Other Place. You get it, right?). You'll be tempted to get scrumptious sounding dishes that aren't greek but trust me - you want to get lamb (i.e. gyro meat) in whatever you order. Do yourself that favor. Despite the diner aesthetic, don't be fooled - it's greek! Eat greek here! The number one indicator that The Other Place has slam dunk diner food? Every time I've been in, all the other patrons are 70 years old, or older. Only the elderly can sniff out quality diner food, and it seems like AARP of Salt Lake has found The Other Place.

Without hesitation, the best breakfast in town! They've replaced George's (the Medical Tower at 9th / 1st) for the best breakfast, bar none! They'll even do the old roundhouse special upon request. Best hasbrowns. Great service. I can not get enough of this place. SO freakin' good!

This place is large, and they have a variety of things on their menu. Breakfast, sandwiches, soup, salads, appetizers, and dessert. We have only ordered breakfast here. No kiddie menu...I thought I would order the "short stack" pancakes for my daughter (she's 6), it's under $5 - and the waitress said, "Are you sure? Our pancakes are the size of a dinner plate, and the short stack is 3 of them." So, second thought I just ordered her one pancake, and added blueberries to it. The waitress was right, it's the size of a dinner plate. All breakfast entrees come with hashbrowns, and your choice of toast, pancake, french toast, or English muffin. No biscuits and gravy, or country fried steak on the menu. So, I ordered the Denver Omelette (ham, cheese, green peppers, and onion), hashbrowns, and wheat toast. Service was fast, and our waitress was at the top of her game. I never had to wait for coffee refills.

It has been a long time since I've been to The Other Place. I'm happy to report that they've remodeled since the last time I was there. The food doesn't seem to have changed much. The good: The Pile is still awesome. They added zucchini. My eggs were a bit more than over-medium, but they were still edible. My co-workers seemed to enjoy the souvlaki, salad, veal and spaghetti, and salmon. I will say that the corn that came with the salmon looked colorless, like the can it had been sitting in had sucked away all the color. It didn't look appetizing. The service was consistent and there was plenty of room for our lunchtime visit. I love any place that lets me order breakfast anytime.

The Other Place Restaurant is definitely a family favorite. Indulge yourself and visit this establishment. The atmosphere of this place is friendly and calming. Their dolmathes are my all-time favorite food, I could eat them everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner:) I would also recommend trying the rich lemon rice soup and their rice pudding, you will not be disappointed!

Love this little Greek joint. You can't go wrong with breakfast or the traditional fare. Busy on weekends, especially after churches let out. Go about 2pm to get the place to yourself. Smiling and friendly staff is nearly always the same which makes repeat customers like myself feel at home.

I was headed to another place which ended up being closed because of Labor Day, so I came here instead. Decided on the Athenian omelette and while I didn't have low expectations, I was still extremely surprised how good it was! Feta cheese is a natural omelette ingredient and I'm gonna have to start getting them like this more often. Also the French toast was quite good as well!

Visited the other place for dinner and went for the fish burger... Not good. Probably my fault seeing as this is a Greek establishment. The staff was attentive and kind. The restaurant has a family diner kind of vibe, and you pay at the register, not with the wait staff. Classic atmosphere. I'm not writing this place off yet, but beware of the fish burger. Unless you're into frozen breaded cod squares...

This place is a hidden treasure. Great Greek! They have several types of spaghetti, and many other options. The portions are huge, so if you leave hungry, you did something wrong. I highly recommend the gyros, and baklava. The service was very friendly and some of the best we have had in the city!

Great place for a quick breakfast that is better than IHOP or Denny's. Love the Greek flair (Feta in the veggie omelet nice touch!) The French toast instead of a toast side was delicious! The service was fast and we were seated really quickly on a busy Sunday morning. My only complaint is that the tables are too close together. It's one of those things where you have to ask the people behind you to scoot in so you can get up from the table.

Sometimes I just want to eat at a regular Greek restaurant ... reminds me of the places back home in Chicago. Breakfast was good, coffee was good, service was good and so were the prices. Spacious dining room, good for groups, and no wait on Sunday morning. Waitresses in black and white ... very professional. I like that they were able to substitute my potatoes and toast for cottage cheese and a whole sliced tomato at no charge. Looking forward to trying for lunch.

Incredibly charming. Great staff that are very attentive. I've been to many greek restaurants but I keep on coming back to this one. I especially like their breakfast. Recently, I went there on a busy night and still got a table and my food quickly. The woman who hosts is a hoot, super friendly and personable. The food is high quality and tastes home cooked. It's so much better then the food they serve at nasty franchises like chiles.

The Other Place restaurant has been my family, friends, and relatives "go to" restaurant since the late 1980's. I love the Monday , minestrone soup. The Greek style green beans on Wednesday and Sunday are fantastic. I especially like the omelets and the spaghetti is terrific. This is a wonderful neighborhood place.

  • Randal S.

Consider this a solid 2 1/2 stars rating. This best part about this place is the large portions and the Greek influence. It seems like a place that the local Greek population frequents. And the servers are very friendly. I can't complain. The food is fine, I'm just being honest when I say that you can get better food at many other restaurants.

Went for dinner. Wonderful, welcoming staff. Menu with variety. Ethnic food without pretense. Comes across as comfort food for those who already know and love Greek. Enjoyed an appetizer with smelt as my entree (don't remember the name - started with am 'm'). Great!

I had the Greek salad with chicken. It was fabulous. Huge portions and reasonable prices. The place gets packed so don't be in a hurry. It's worth the wait!

I have literally been coming to this restaurant for over forty years; it used to be in the building just to the east. For a consistently hearty and tasty breakfast it is hard to beat, especially for the price. I just had eggs, over easy with hash browns and two pork chops with French toast substituted for regular toast for about nine dollars. The servers always keep the coffee cup and water full; many have worked here for decades. The quality is consistent and the facility is kept up well. Their lunches and dinners specialize in a hearty Greek cuisine which they do a good job of preparing. For traditional cafe type food, this is hard to beat.

Delicious restaurant never dissapoints. Love the omelets in particular the feta cheese omelette is great. Breakfast served all day. Lunch and dinner are great too. For lunch or dinner try the chicken pasta salad. Pleanty of parking in the back of the restaurant. The entrance is in the back too. Open 7 days a week, go check out!

Breakfast: House Breakfast (hashbrowns, eggs, meat), water. Good: None. Bad: Service was the worst. Arrived at 7:05am to a restaurant with 3 different parties already seated, and one employee who was waitress/hostess/setting up tables still. Besides my food arriving luke-warm, I had to snag another water from another table cause the waitress was nowhere to be found. By the time I left, there were 6+ parties including a large party of almost 20, still only one waitress. Really? Bad: Food came luke-warm and was nothing special. Note about other reviews: Are you kidding me? I walk by this restaurant all the time and see plenty of people here, but what finally got me to come in was. . . yes, you guessed it, all of you Yelpers. I'm not sure who I should be rating, "The Other Place" or the Yelpers who had reviewed this place. 9 bucks for a terrible meal? I will not be coming back.

This place gives off a certain vibe...sort of "my grandpa would like to get coffee here". And it definitely has options catering to that demographic - spaghetti, patty melt, hot beef, etc. However, take a closer look at the breakfast menu. Lamb chops and eggs, greek omelette, gyro omelette, marinated pork and eggs. I've had breakfast here several times in the last month, and it has all been really good. Plus, their hours are insane...7am - 11pm, 8-10 on Sundays. In the land of hipsters, aluminum seats, and industrial design, a restaurant with pastels, comfortable seats, and greek-style diner food is a nice respite.

Love the food, love the service, love the parking space! At first I made the trip from cottonwood heights just for the liver & onions (my favorite) but now we're regulars! We love the huge portions (can't say no to leftovers... Dinner for tomorrow!) and most importantly the service. Both servers are great! Very friendly and welcoming. The dishes come with a side of rice or potatoes, soup, salad and dessert! Yum! Prices are also very affordable. It may not be the fanciest dinner, but I do love my homey food!

  • Nate S.

Not only are you eating in a fantastic time machine, you are eating food that is consistently good. The gyro meat is sliced too thickly for me, but it is nicely seasoned and accompanied by a healthy salad and classic thick diner fries. Dolmathes are BIG and tasty and can be ordered a la carte. They even have smelts on the menu, and I've heard they're excellent. No, it's not fully four-star food, but it's a four-star place. Also, the waitresses wear white shirts, black skirts, and hose. HOSE. I should mock this as antiquated buffoonery, but somehow it's not. Such is the magic of The Other Place.

Love this place! We order the Chicken Mezedakia with the garlic bread... To die for! The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but the food is!

The epitome of a family restaurant/diner in food choices, type of prep, and ambiance. The sort of place which still has a long narrow basket of wrapped Saltines on the table. Noise level tolerable even when busy because of carpeting, acoustic tile ceiling and lack of Musak. Staff are friendly and efficient. We come perhaps twice a year and this time had a mezze type sampler which was fairly successful and an entree which was basically a good chicken souvlaki off the skewer, rice, and frozen vegetables. (Well, the veg were cooked but you know what I mean). In the old days I remember the salad as strictly iceberg, but it now has a broader mix of lettuce and generous feta mini crumbles. In short, not a place for a memorable meal but a solid choice for those times when you want a dependable Greek American standard.

The Other Place is a great diner and a perfect brunch spot when you're hungry. The portions are very generous and everything is pretty tasty. We had the Gyro with Feta and the House Burger. The salad is tasty, but you might want to get the dressing on the side because they put a lot on. The soup is just ok and so are the fries.

A long time family favorite for breakfast or a late night stop. Marinated pork and eggs are top notch. Try it with garlic bread instead of toast and a side of feta. Yum.

Try to eat at The Other Place whenever I visit Salt Lake. The mezedakia with lamb chops is my all time favorite. Really delicious. The lemon rice soup is also very very good. Enjoy!

We have been eating here for over 15 years. They serve Greek and American comfort food at its finest. The servers are very courteous and attentive. They do everything to make sure your meal is to your liking. I would recommend their mezadika with marinated pork, lamb chops, rice pudding and Greek coffee!

It's easy to see why this place has been a downtown favorite for nearly 30 years -- friendly staff, great food, comfortable atmosphere, and parking. I've lived downtown for years and passed this place daily thinking "I should try that." I finally did, and am saddened that I hadn't done so sooner. For a late dinner, the place is great. First, there's parking. This place is on 300 South, which has become a chaotic nightmare of single-lane traffic, parallel parking, and some sort of weird bike lane. Skip that, and park behind the building -- there's plenty, and it's free. I'm in love already. Second, the atmosphere. Nothing fancy. But comfortable. And clean. Third, the service. The hostess (owner, I believe?) was incredibly friendly, and we were seated immediately. The server was also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She was an older woman with a sing-song voice and a nice smile. For a moment, I daydreamed of becoming a regular and having her call me "hon," which I really hate. She was that good. Now, the food. Delicious. Plentiful. Let me repeat: plentiful. I rattled off my order without a second thought (Pastichio, yum) and when it started coming out, I was in awe. Huge salad. Huge. And soup. This isn't one of those -or- places. You get it all. Then the main dish. A plate the size of a hubcap. I took one look and thought "great... lunch tomorrow!" But it was so good, I couldn't stop myself. I cleaned up. And then... dessert. Wait, what? I get dessert, too? Surely it will be a tiny taste. No. Rice pudding... a big bowl of it... slathered in whipped cream and topped with cinnamon and sugar. Yes!! I'm full just thinking about it. In summary, awesome place. Great food. Incredible service. I'm no foodie, and if you are, you'll probably turn your nose up at this place. But, when you're in the mood for a good, greasy, calorie-laden, not-so-fancy-but-still-awesome dinner, this is the place.

The Other Place is our go to for delicious comfort food, excellent customer service and warm, friendly environment where we are treated like family. We've patronized the Other Place for years. The food is CONSISTENTLY delicious. Wednesday is Lentil Soup night. My 7 year old loves the soup so much we can't miss a week unless it's a major emergency! It's also my favorite. The french toast is among the best I've ever had, the mashed potatoes are REAL and the prices are more than reasonable for all the food you get. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong here. Kosta and Victoria run a clean operation where all the customers are treated with kindness and genuine appreciation.

I've only eaten breakfast here, but it is some of the best. I enjoy the house breakfast (eggs, choice of meat {bacon, sausage, or gyro meat}, double order of hashbrowns with cheese on them, and choice of {pancakes, toast, or English muffin}. Come hungry and prepare for tasty food at reasonable prices.

Three stars is an UNDER rating! So I gave it four... Went there for lunch on Friday for the special Lamb Shank and it was SPECIAL!! Got the soup AND salad and they gave us free reign over the cracker basket!! ( I like that... ) Also came with either garlic bread or pita bread and some very nice spaghetti... (see photos) MELISSA was an EXCELLENT "guide" on this culinary journey. She was attentive to the point of mind reading when it came to service. She noticed what was going on at our table and she reacted so intuitively we felt like "regulars." I'm not only going back to have BREAKFAST, but I'm also going to buy ten gift cards for some of my best clients... Thanks Melissa!!

Great fooooood!! The staff are great too, not as great as the food of course, belly comes first lol.. It really reminds me of something yo mama cooks. Fresh food all the time. I am not the biggest soup person, but MAAAN their Chicken Lemmon soup is the best soup on earth so far for me, and believe me I have been around the globe and tried different foods, but this soup is something else!!! I am telling you it's like something yo mama cooked. Also, check out their all Vegetarian breakfast dish the PILE my absolute favorite! I mean when your veggies are crunchy and fresh they gotta be doing something good!!! Check them out!!!

Very nice restaurant. Good food, very friendly staff and in a nice area. I got the gyro with feta cheese, very delicious and it came with 2 sides of your choice of salad, fries, soap, cottage cheese and peaches. I would definitely recommend place.

My family and I have gone to The Other Place for yrs. They have a wonderful menu, something for everyone. The food tastes home made, and very is yummy. The Greek pasta salad with chicken is my favorite. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The owner is there most nights and she makes you feel comfortable and taken care of. I love going to/supporting a business that the owner is on hand, passionate, and appreciates your business. When you eat there, you don't feel rushed. Its a nice place to catch up with a friend. So grab a friend and go have your favorite dish, at The Other Place!

This place is like a Greek version of Denny's. It was like a secret hideout, too. I'd seen the sign many times from the street but never thought much of it. At one time I was under the assumption that it was out of business because I never saw patrons entering or exiting until my boyfriend said a friend recommended it and I read on yelp that the entrance is actually in the back. Solid four stars for great service and tasty food and the people watching was a bit fun, too. I had "The Pile" which was a heaping mountain of hashed browns, onions, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms topped with copious amounts of feta cheese and two eggs siting at it's peak. The flavor combination was great. The bf had the marinated pork in eggs and I was able to steal a pork chunk and found it very flavorful. Reminded me a lot of the pork souvlaki over at Greek Souvlaki. Both meals came with a choice of toast, english muffin or a pancake and we opted for toast but even then left with boxes. Hearty helpings here, they don't skimp. Ambiance...well it's not much to look at but it's clean and I loved the idea of being in such an out of the way spot.

Solid Greek diner food. It's a go to when I need a little American Greek food. I also pick them over American chain places such as Denny's. In typical fashion they have a huge menu but have yet to have a bad experience.

It had been about 10 years since I had been there. I know the dinners were pretty good but this time breakfast was the time of day. O my hell are freaking kidding me Gyro meat and feta for breakfast! I'm in heaven. The only thing to make it better would had been if they had sriracha to put on my wonderful entree. When you get one of the breakfast plates like the chef or the house you get above the legal amount of hash-browns allowed by law. If you can eat that many hash-browns then man those two potatoes you downed are going to come back and haunt you. Go here for breakfast its a must. GYRO AND FETA!

You know, 3 stars seems a bit low. This place for me is a 3 1/2. I've been coming here for a long time. The servers are always very attentive and kind. The food is average. There's a lot better in this city, but I don't think I've ever been outright dissatisfied with anything here. It's open till 11 pm Monday-Saturday, which is nice. I like being able to go somewhere local late at night (vs. the standard village in, dee's, etc). The decor is very dated, but it's clean and spacious. *If you're a vegetarian, I would bypass The Other Place. My friends were not able to find anything really besides the veggie omelet. Almost every dish on the menu is a meat one.

Everyone I know is now familiar with what I refer to as "Green Bean Wednesday", which is when The Other Place serves Greek green beans as the vegetable of the day. (They also serve them Sunday so order them on that day so there will be enough for me on Wednesdays.) I love the friendly servers too. They are genuinely kind and you feel like you are a guest in their home. I am the type of person who will order the same thing every time I find a favorite and believe me it's green beans on Wednesday, but I have tried many things on the menu and have no complaints at all.

I always wondered what I would do in my retirement, yes, I know it's a long time from now, but one can't help but wonder. I always thought I'd be bored, only spend time with my husband (and/or cats, depending on the outcome of my romantic exploits), or sit around gossiping with my girlfriends in the nursing home. After coming here, I've realized that people in their retirement come to The Other Place during the daytime! Okay, I may be exaggerating a little bit, but when I went in here for lunch today, I couldn't help but notice that I did not match the typical demographic who visits here. Seeing how happy people were here, enjoying their food, talking about the origins of income tax as if it were yesterday, it makes me look forward to my golden years. Anyways, onto my overall experience with The Other Place. Not only do I find the name charming, but I find the place, the staff, and the food as well. My sister and I received the best service from here, always had our drinks filled, our questions about the menu were answered cheerfully, the food came out quickly and perfectly cooked, no complaints at all. While I had the sauteed chicken with vegetables and pita bread, my sister had the gyro with rice. Both came with a cup of lemon chicken rice soup, and it was perfect for the strange weather we are currently having this fine April day. Her gyro was very tasty, although it did come with a little too much sauce, but that's nothing that can't be scraped aside. Overall, this family ran restaurant is a great place to bring anyone of all ages. The place is brimming full of love and greek deliciousness. I will have to try the breakfasts/brunches!

I'm giving this place four stars. I imagine most may think it deserves three stars. It's no foodie paradise. It's just love and grease. But, I don't care what you think, The Other Place is frikkin' awesome. I'd like to give it 5 stars, but I lied when I said I didn't care what you think. Having been unable to withstand the wait at Park Cafe, I drove over to 3rd South for a quick breakfast. Now, I don't remember what the thing I ordered was called, but it included plenty of delicious gyro meat, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, and a pancake. I was grossed out by the sheer volume of the plate, but then... I suddenly looked down and had eaten the whole thing. And I'd do it again! This place is awesome. But, don't rush over unless you know what you're in for: solid greek yumminess, ol' school flare and odd colored hair, fab service, and a dearth of hipsters. I want to sit amongst the elderly, enjoying the nostalgia and sheer comfort of delicious grease. I want to blissfully inhale the ambiance of something so tried and true. I want to go back for a gyro and some soup, which is good because I haunt Now and Again, which is conveniently located next door. I suddenly miss my Grandma.

Visited The Other Place recently for the first time. I was part of a group of about 16 people, so I will say first and foremost that The Other Place staff was accommodating to us, and the service was exceptional. I always had plenty of beverage (beer) in front of me, one course was brought out right after another, and I felt very well taken care of. As for the meal itself, I ordered a dinner entree, which comes with a ton of food. I order the shish kabob (pork) and there was just too much to eat over the course of the meal. You get soup, salad, entree over rice with a choice of potato (I did fries), side vegetable (corn), pita bread, and a dessert (I did rice pudding.) None of the food was bad, I portions of all of it (couldn't eat all the pita bread, or all the dessert, just too much portionwise) but it wasn't great either. The pork was very underseasoned, the soup (a lemon rice or something or the other soup) was bland, and even the rice pudding at the end needed to leverage every last bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top to have any flavor. I'm not a regular eater of Greek food, but I had just had some kabobs a few days prior at Greek Souvlaki, and they were much more flavorful and enjoyable. That all being said, you get incredible value for the price here. I had two bottles of Lev beer and the entire meal for $25, so there's just great value here. I would like to go back at some point and try some of their breakfast, as others at the table ordered omelettes and they looked good, but there are just too many other options out there to make this a "must come back" place for me.

Ok. Now that the meal is done. Here's what I've got. If the guy who owned Dee's was Greek, and cared a little more about service, food, and options, and a little less about Meth, this would be his restaurant. The meat was greyish, the corn a little too waxy and yellow (#5) but overall not a total put off. The service gets 5 stars, had 3 different people stop at the table, all of them super friendly. The decor was clean enough. The prices were good. I'd go back in a pinch.

here it is simply ........ Slowwwwwww Service overpriced and the food has gone down hill the moussaka was gross it was a casserole of old leftover sliced baked potato turned waxy and yellowish undercooked eggplant ground beef and poorley seasoned topped with a white Alfredo like sauce no custard or tomato I mentioned it to the server they did nothing about it my sentiment adios amigos I will never go back!

This may be another perfect rating due to my softness for mom and pop, family owned, nostalgic restaurants. If you haven't read any of my other 278 other reviews, I'm from New York and I some how seem to squeeze that in almost every review. In New York ALL diners are owned and operated by old Greek men, and their 17 daughters wait the tables, and their 12 sons work in the kitchen. No, those aren't Mexicans, those are Greeks. This place fits that blue print perfectly. You walk in, and you it's somewhat quiet even though there seems to be a lot of families eating. They have Greek beers on the menu, so that's cool. Everything is extremely well priced. All meals come with an amazing Greek salad, and fries. The food is delectable. The service is excellent. And it's next door to a bar. So yeah, it's great. Greek...had to say Greek one more time to beat my record of saying "Greek" more than eight times in a post...Greek.

Haven't written one of these in a while so here goes! What can I say about the Other Place? You can argue there are better places to eat, whether that means fancier or better tasting cuisine. But, what you cannot argue against is how comfortable the place is to eat. It's my default place when I don't specifically know what I want but do want good food and usually good conversation. This is where I go with friends to eat and talk and feel full. The food never disappoints and the service is always spot on. From the owner to the waitresses to the guy who comes around with coffee and smiles abound. My friend, Lance, first introduced me to this place three or four years ago and it's been a mainstay for dinner on a Saturday night or lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It doesn't look like much from the front and you're going to want to park in the back where there should be plenty of spaces to be had. I'm a creature of habit and the food here is some of the best habits to keep. I've also discovered a new favorite here, the Mediterranean Spaghetti, with browned garlic butter sauce, fresh tomatoes and feta cheese. I found the taste refreshing and the whole meal is generally healthier than your traditional spaghetti. Tons of tomatoes, tons of feta and an overall not "heavy" feel to the meal. It's a lot of food folks so it makes for great leftovers to take to work the next day. Another favorite of mine is the House Breakfast, a double order hashbrowns with melted swiss and american cheese, two eggs any style, and choice of ham, bacon, sausage or gyro meat. Once again, this is a LOT of food and don't expect to eat it all if you're like me. Especially, since it comes with served anytime with hash browns, toast and jam, pancake, muffin or one slice french toast. Once again, if you are looking for a place to eat downtown and you have no place in particular in mind give the Other Place a try and you will not be disappointed. This is comfort food at its best. It can get crowded at lunch time especially on a Sunday as big groups like to partake of this wonderful place but generally I've never had to wait to long to be seated.

A greek denny's is an accurate description. The 3 stars is for the greek. The 2 lacking stars is for the Denny's. If you want to rub shoulders with the greek community its a good place to start. I am appreciative of greek salads that don't include mixed greens or other lettuce.

The food was fab. I ordered the feta omelet and it was LOADED with feta. The omelet came with hasbrowns and choice of toast, english muffin, pancake or french toast. Of course, I had to try the french toast. Thumbs up. Other meals that were ordered from our table: Marinated chicken and omlete, veggie omelet, pork chops and eggs and athena omlete. Everyone was happy with their meal. Total for 5 people: 55 bucks.

Quite disappointed. Food took forever and they still got my meal wrong. Waitress was rude and didn't come back to the table for 20 minutes while we waited for our check. I complained to management and they were short with me and would not comp my check even though I didn't touch my food. Go somewhere else and save yourself the trouble.

I used to come here a lot years ago the first time I lived in SLC and liked it, so my brother and I decided we would try it again. I came for breakfast a few Sundays ago and I have to be honest, both of us thought our breakfast was greasy spoon quality. We ate everything but didn't think it was special. The place is looking pretty dated as well, but the service was good and the people are friendly. I think I'll give these guys another shot at dinner. with so many reviews and a four star average my expectations are high.

The way to my heart is through my tummy and The Other Place has been wooing me since 1989. You can never go wrong with their Chicken Souvlaki and Greek Salad. My family and I have been fans since they were located i nthe tiny spot next door, i do miss the cozy location but didn't miss the cigarette smell, gosh that was 20 years ago! The Other Place restaurant is not only the tastiest Greek dining in Salt Lake city, but also a local favorite for decades.

Thanks to YELP I found this place. The food was great and plentiful. It looks simple from the street but you will not be disappointed. Nice change from same old "chain food". There is a wide range of menu options and they serve breakfast all-day long. The service was good and the staff was friendly. Great place for a intimate dinner for two or a large group. I had the lamb and it was delicious. I am going back for breakfast and take the rest of the family.

Great casual place for a breakfast, lunch or dinner. Just about everything is good, but anything that's been marinated is extra good, or try the breakfast "skillet" type thing, or french toast. As a kid, I stopped eating the abhorrent liver after my mom's version, but once I was persuaded by the waitress to try it, she told me its a customer favorite, and surprise, it is REALLY good. Nice wait staff and decent service. Fun to eat there on Sunday mornings, lots of Greek families there after church. Tip: get the lemon rice chicken soup. Easy parking at back of the building.

Awesome food, Honest price, Large Meals, Great Service. The iced tea was terrific. The waitresses too! I ordered a greek food but the other members of my family ordered various food like steaks, chicken or spaghetti. It was all great. Definitely a great spot.

Best breakfast spot in Salt Lake City if you are in for simple, otherwise Blue Plate is where it's at for breakfast. The Other Place is great for gyro meat for breakfast and crispy hash browns. The people are nice and great place to just go for breakfast.

My wife was a waitress at The Other Place for almost seven years, so I have an intimate knowledge of their menu. This Greek/American diner does it all, and there are plenty of regulars who can testify that they do it well. You can't do much better for a classic diner breakfast. I go for "The House Breakfast", which has everything any bloated American could want; tons of hashbrowns, eggs, cheese and pork flesh. I douse mine with ketchup and tabasco and I'm happily comotose for the rest of the day. The Greek Salad is the best in the valley. The Mezadakia are fantastic. Decent burger and fries. Full dinner menu with everything from spaghetti, to steak, to seafood dishes. I tend to stick with my two favorite dishes on the menu; the fried smelts (a giant helping with delightful dolmathes, fresh lemons, and blocks of feta on the side) (see the pic), or the moan-inducing calf's liver and onions. Regardless of what you order, you will leave full and satisfied. The only disappointment is you no longer can be served by my wife, a once iconic figure at The Other Place. Not to worry; the other girls at The Other Place always provide friendly and efficient service.

The Pile with extra everything is the best! The service is always very friendly and fast. Great place to go post hangover.

The Chicken House Salad is awesome! Huge chucks of chicken and feta! Oh yeah! Awesome place!

Inviting atmosphere, fair prices, and large servings, but not stellar food. It's open fairly late with convenient parking in the back, but the bottom line is that as much as I wanted to like the food, I probably won't be back.

I love this place! Favorites are: House chicken salad, spaghetti, Greek salad, pancakes, omelets, & spumoni.

I've been here twice - the last time was last month - and each time the food was good - I recommend the dolmades, seasoned beef wrapped in grape leaves. Small in size (naturally) but flavorful. Next time I go, I'll update this review, but that may be a while (I'm not a local.)

This is probably my favorite reastraunt to frequent in the SLC area. They have some sort of oil-juice that they marinate a lot of things in that seems to make anything taste good. Not that it wouldn't taste good anyways. Try a Mezadakia (that may be a terrible, phonetic spelling) and some of their deserts. Place is never overcrowded (but never deserted either) and the wait is relatively short.

A place I never knew I was missing! This restaurant is like the exact mash up between a casual diner and a local greek spot. It's old school Greek and I love it! I came here with a party of 2 for brunch during a weekend. We were seated very quickly. It's a very casual and comfy joint where the food is hearty and big and greasy but all delicious. We had the pork chops and eggs and potatoes with gyro. Omg heaven. The garlic bread that came with was perfect. Afterwards we vegged for a couple hours so this is definitely not the place to go to if you want to have a productive day; I would say more fitting for hangover situations.

A little something for everyone. My kids live for the breakfast. My dad would go here everyday if he could! If I'm getting breakfast I have to have The Pile. It's my fave fave fave. My dad thinks I'm weird because I pour syrup over the whole thing. Recently went for dinner with my parents. I had the salmon dinner and holy cow it was FAB. I was scared to have anything but breakfast here because it's like a Dee's style place inside but wow! The waitress recommended it and she was right on the money. Waitresses are cute and folksy like an old time diner with 80's decor.

One of my favorite places to eat in downtown SLC. The atmosphere is lacking, but the owner is nice and the Mezedakia appetizer is delicious. It's the best thing on the menu by far and the only thing we ever order. When I first brought my husband for Mezedakia he decided to branch out and try something else on the menu. He regretted it and has chosen the Mezedakia ever since. We've had many girl's nights here as well, and my young kids, ages 6 & 8, love it, too. I recommend it to everyone!

Homestyle American and Greek food. Breakfast and the service are definitely reliable. Menu standout is the mezedakia - try it!

Ordered the Denver omelette and subbed the ham for some sausage. It was DELISH~!! Their french toast is amazing...I guess it's one of their big staples to order there. Coffee was fresh and really good considering it's just house coffee. Service was alright...coffee was always filled, but it took a minute to get our waitress' attention.
